Are you looking for a flexible, part-time SEN Teaching Assistant role in Preston?

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs in a supportive and inclusive school setting. This part-time opportunity is ideal for candidates seeking a consistent weekly schedule while making a meaningful difference in children's education.

We welcome applications from experienced SEN Teaching Assistants as well as individuals with relevant transferable skills or a strong interest in working within SEN education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities aligned with the National Curriculum.

  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Support students with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.

  • Implement effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.

  • Monitor and record student progress, feeding back to teachers and SENCO.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals.

  • Demonstrate patience, resilience, and a proactive attitude towards supporting individual learning needs.

  • The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based or transferable experience).

  • Be confident supporting students with additional learning, behavioural, or emotional needs.

  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Show flexibility, empathy, and a genuine passion for inclusive education.

  • Be reliable and committed to the specified part-time schedule.

  • Application Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Professional references covering recent employment.

  • CV covering the last 10 years of employment history (where possible), with any gaps explained.

  • Legal right to work in the UK.

  • Willingness to attend a registration/interview process.
