About the Department:

The department employs approximately 100 (full time) occupational therapists working in Queensland state schools supporting students with disability to achieve the best outcomes from their education.

Your Opportunity:

In this role you will advance your professional knowledge and skills in evidence based, contemporary paediatric OT practices. You will support students to access and participate in learning and assist schools to deliver inclusive education.

This position can be based in Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone, or Emerald. Regular travel is an essential requirement of the role. Experience in telepractice service delivery is highly desirable.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support students to achieve their potential using evidence-based contemporary occupational therapy knowledge and frameworks to assist schools to identify and make reasonable adjustments and use inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Collaborate and liaise with school leaders, teachers, other service providers, and the supervising occupational therapist to assess barriers to student learning and develop and implement occupational therapy services across schools.
  • Participate as an active member in education teams within schools to ensure the delivery of high quality, evidence-based contemporary occupational therapy services to enhance learning outcomes for students with disability.
  • Use professional knowledge and skills to deliver occupational therapy services in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, professional standards and guidelines.
