About the Department:
The Department of Education is dedicated to building an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the community and schools we support by treating everyone with respect and dignity. The department employs approximately 100 (full time) Occupational therapists working in Queensland state schools supporting students with disability to achieve the best outcomes from their education.
About the Role:
In this role you will advance your professional knowledge and skills in evidence based, contemporary paediatric OT practices. You will support students to access and participate in learning and assist schools to deliver inclusive education.
Responsibilities include:
- Support students to achieve their potential using evidence-based contemporary occupational therapy knowledge and frameworks to assist schools to identify and make reasonable adjustments and use inclusive teaching strategies.
- Collaborate and liaise with school leaders, teachers, other service providers, and the supervising occupational therapist to assess barriers to student learning and develop and implement occupational therapy services across schools.
- Participate as an active member in education teams within schools to ensure the delivery of high quality, evidence-based contemporary occupational therapy services to enhance learning outcomes for students with disability.
- Use professional knowledge and skills to deliver occupational therapy services in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, professional standards and guidelines.
- Monitor and assess occupational therapy services provided across schools, in consultation with the supervising occupational therapist, to ensure that they improve student access and participation in education.
