About the Role 

Canberra Grammar School is seeking an outstanding and passionate Music Teacher to join our dynamic Music Department. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented educator and musician to inspire the next generation of performers, composers and music enthusiasts within a School renowned for its commitment to excellence in music education. 

You will teach Music across Years 7–12 within the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) and contribute to a vibrant and flourishing music culture that extends well beyond the classroom. Working alongside a team of exceptional educators and musicians, you will play a key role in developing students' musical knowledge, creativity, performance skills and appreciation of the arts. 

Whether your passion lies in performance, composition, musicology, ensemble direction or music technology, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students while contributing to a rich co-curricular music program. 

About You 

You are an inspiring educator and accomplished musician who is passionate about helping students realise their potential. 

You will bring: 

  • Passion for the learning and holistic development of students in and beyond the classroom 
  • Experience in modelling outstanding teaching practice in and beyond the classroom 
  • Subject expertise and the ability to teach inclusively across a broad age and ability range 
  • Proven commitment to collaborative professional engagement and professional learning 
  • Experience of, or willingness to train for, teaching the Australian Curriculum and, where relevant, the Higher School Certificate and/or the International Baccalaureate 
  • Enthusiastic commitment to participating in the School’s pastoral and co-curricular program 
  • Expertise in Music 
  • Commitment to the full life of an Independent school and a willingness to engage in School activities out of regular hours 
  • A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • Appropriate qualifications 
  • A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card 
  • A current National Police Check 
  • Full working rights within Australia.
