Job Title: Multi-Skills Teacher - SEN School/College (Ages 11-19) Location: Burnley, Lancashire Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Role Overview
We are seeking a versatile and committed Multi-Skills Teacher to join a specialist SEN school/college in Burnley, supporting learners aged 11-19. This role focuses on delivering a practical, skills-based curriculum alongside core subjects, tailored to meet a diverse range of special educational needs and abilities.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across a range of subjects, including functional skills, life skills, and vocational learningSupport learners in developing independence, employability, and everyday living skillsAdapt teaching strategies to meet a variety of needs, including complex and additional learning difficultiesImplement and review EHCP targets and personalised learning plansCreate a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environmentAssess, monitor, and report on learner progress and developmentWork collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and external professionalsSupport learners' social, emotional, and behavioural developmentRequirements
QTS/QTLS (essential)Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly in secondary or post-16 settingsStrong understanding of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficultiesAbility to deliver a flexible, multi-skills or vocational-style curriculumPractical, hands-on teaching approach with strong differentiation skillsCalm, patient, and nurturing attitude with effective behaviour managementEnhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)Benefits
