About the role:
As the Manager, Youth Engagement you will:
- Provide project management to co-ordinate and lead youth engagement initiatives and strategies and provide leadership and direction in the planning and implementation of Early Childhood and State Schools Division priorities and strategies aligned to the department's improvement agenda.
- Research, analyse and assess data to develop creative, innovative strategies to support the varying needs of young people in achieving their outcomes as they transition through their educational pathway.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide high level strategic advice to senior officers of the department and other key stakeholders on issues relevant to the specific accountabilities of the role.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including working collaboratively, within and across schools, settings, agencies and organisations to implement collaborative strategies to ensure the effective implementation of Early Childhood and State Schools Division priorities for all students in state schools.
- Contribute, as a member of the senior management team, to setting and co-ordinating strategic direction and activities ensuring the effectiveness of youth engagement within the department's priorities.
- Coordinate and contribute to the strategic direction and activities as defined in priorities set by senior management.
- Lead and manage other teams and projects to improve youth engagement and to achieve the department's strategic priorities.
- Ensure the optimal use of human and financial resources to achieve agreed goals, oversee the management of State and Commonwealth funds, where applicable, and manage reporting requirements.
- Ensure effective communication, integration, coordination and liaison occurs with key stakeholders and clients.
- Prepare and review briefing material, correspondence and reports for the Minister, senior departmental officers, government agencies and other entities on relevant issues and initiatives.
- Promote leadership and foster a challenging, equitable, ethical and safe work environment for staff, which encourages commitment, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.
