About the Role

  • Provide high level strategic advice to the senior management team on corporate and emerging issues within the division, department and across government at both the state and national levels.
  • Ensure effective coordination and integration of the division's programs and projects and provide strategic advice and executive support to the division on policy and operational matters relating to early childhood education and care.
  • The position manages a team and is located in the Brisbane CBD.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage teams to deliver key tasks ensuring a culture of accountability and high-quality client service.
  • Prepare major policy papers, cabinet submissions, briefings, reports and other documents.
  • Provide strategic advice to the senior management team to inform quality executive decision making.
  • Maintain current operational policies, procedures, processes and systems, ensuring robust processes with appropriate internal controls and checks
  • Critically analyse and prepare complex reports and submissions in order to interpret and render advice
  • Form strategic networks with other government departments and agencies including statutory authorities and peak bodies, to collaborate on strategic policy issues, and represent the office at intergovernmental and inter sector meetings at local, state and national level.
  • Apply high level skills to communicate effectively, consult and negotiate persuasively to achieve desired outcomes on strategic policy issues and facilitate stakeholder meetings and briefings to senior management.

  • You will be highly organised and flexible, able to quickly adapt to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • You will have an eye for details and be able to ensure consistency across messaging in various forms (correspondence, briefing notes, Ministerial statements, stakeholder briefings etc).
  • You will have an ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with both internal staff and external stakeholders.
