About the role

The Manager in the Office of the Executive Director, Disability will be required to:

  • Provide high-level strategic and operational support to the Executive Director across a wide range of initiatives
  • Write, coordinate and quality assure ministerial and senior officer responses to correspondence within tight timeframes
  • Lead the Office in the prioritisation, coordination and quality assurance of correspondence and briefs, including effective leadership in the management of a busy shared mailbox
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships and networks with departmental officers and stakeholders to ensure a culture of service delivery and achievement of negotiated outcomes.

About you

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Meticulous written communication skills and strong capacity to present messages in a clear and concise manner across diverse government genres
  • Demonstrated leadership, collaboration and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, maintain positive relationships and achieve successful outcomes
  • The ability to adhere to required organisational standards, including the Department of Education Style Guide and Ministerial and Executive Services Unit Guidelines
  • Capacity to manage a high volume of confidential, complex and sensitive correspondence within agreed timeframes
  • Seasoned consultation skills to negotiate collaborative solutions and implement appropriate strategic responses
  • Proven capacity to develop strategic policy, guidelines, and implementation strategies
  • Research and analytical skills, with proven ability to initiate, implement and report on complex projects within set timeframes
  • Strong track record of leading teams, strategies and initiatives to support the achievement of work unit outcomes
  • The ability to build and sustain productive relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients
  • Knowledge of, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of best practice, legislation, policies, and trends in student inclusion and improving outcomes for students with disability, with a proven ability to research and prepare accurate reports and submissions at a senior level.
