Department of Education International (DEi) branch has provided education programs, services and experiences for students and teachers in Queensland and globally. The department's commercial arm trading as Education Queensland International (EQI) delivers internationally recognised fee for service products and services here in Queensland and abroad.

About the role:

As the Manager, you will:

  • Provide expert financial management and information communication and technology (ICT) advice to support operation and growth as a commercial unit.
  • Actively participate in setting the strategic direction of the commercial business of the unit and management of activities including significant contribution to the development and management of annual business and operational planning.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead a team and understand complex government financial reporting and systems. 
  • Lead the design and implementation of effective financial policies, procedures and practices of DEi and provide financial analysis and high-level strategic advice to allow informed decision making relating to the running of DEi
  • Manage, develop, implement and monitor finance service standards and coordinate financial and purchasing activities to ensure compliance with government and departmental legislation, policies and standards.
  • Lead a team to oversee financial management activities including budgeting and reporting, financial modelling, HR and debt management processes across DEi
  • Provide advice to the DEi Senior leadership team, providing effective and efficient management and administration of business operations.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Experience in commercial financial management and accountancy would also be an advantage.
