About this job

About Miami State High School

Established in 1963, our prosperous school sits in a great location behind Nobby Headland, just a minute's walk from the surf. Miami State High School would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Kombumerri Saltwater People and the land on which we meet.

We have more than 1,600 students enrolled across year levels 7 to 12, with more than 180 staff.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated and dynamic full time Link and Launch Coordinator based at Miami State High School. As the Link and Launch Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting young people who have recently completed Year 12 but are not engaged in education, employment or training. You will support these recent graduates from Elanora SHS, Merrimac SHS, Miami SHS, Palm Beach Currumbin SHS, Robina SHS and Varsity College to navigate their options in choosing a pathway that will equip them to successfully transition into study, training or work. We are seeking a dedicated individual with high level communication skills and industry knowledge who can provide practical assistance to students when required.

You will:

  • Foster partnerships with local training, higher education and employment providers;
  • Provide practical assistance to young people to access required services to remove barriers to their engagement;
  • Market the service and undertake events and initiatives to raise the profile of the role within the school and broader community;
  • Work across a number of local schools to ensure Year 12 students are aware of the transition support available upon leaving school; and
  • Provide and develop guidance for young people engaged in the program, including identifying pathways, monitoring their ongoing success, and maintaining relevant records.

The successful candidate will report to the Principal/Deputy Principal by providing regular updates of outcomes whilst maintaining records and identifying issues impacting on the success of the program. Statewide support and professional learning is available through the Director, Link and Launch.
