Library School Officer, St Thomas More College, Sunnybank

We are seeking a Library School Officer to undertake a diverse range of tasks within our College Library and community. The successful applicant will display proven communication and interpersonal skills; provide effective support for academic staff and have experience and knowledge in the use of database platforms.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Support for the teaching and learning program:

  • Assist in general supervision in the library, particularly at lunch breaks
  • Assist staff and students in the location of online resources
  • Supervision in the library for morning, lunch and when required
  • Assist teachers to locate resources to support classroom teaching
  • Assist students to locate research materials and online resources
  • Explaining library rules and procedures to individuals and small groups
  • Organising and displaying newspapers and magazines and other displays
  • With Teacher Librarian, select suitable fiction & non-fiction resources from supplier

 

Clerical and technical support:

  • Operate front desk for student & staff enquiries
  • Troubleshoot to solve basic problems with audio/visual equipment, logging the issue on the IT Portal for further action
  • Secure and maintain battery store for audio/visual resources
  • Assist with stocktaking- withdraw resources under the direction of the Teacher Librarian

 

The physical environment of the Library is maintained:

  • Cleaning of bench tops for tables and shelves with some general cleaning
  • Printer maintenance, paper loading
  • Identifying and mending resources in need of repair
  • Keeping the library clean, tidy and attractive, including displays
  • Set up the library for presentations and meetings as required
  • Daily check on shelved resources to ensure tidy and in correct classification
  • Creation of subject specific displays


To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:

  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.
