The Role

We are working in partnership with a supportive secondary school in the Bradford area who are looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who require additional support to access the curriculum, including students with SEND, learning difficulties and additional needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is patient, approachable and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and make positive progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils across the school
  • Support students with SEND and additional learning needs
  • Assist pupils with accessing lessons and completing classroom activities
  • Work alongside teachers and the SEND team to implement appropriate support strategies
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement with learning
  • Support pupils with behaviour, organisation and emotional regulation where required
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching and pastoral staff
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare

    • The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable
  • Experience within a secondary school, SEND or youth setting would be advantageous
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Confident building positive relationships with young people
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Willingness to undertake all required safeguarding and compliance checks
