The Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with complex ASD needs, working under the guidance of the class teacher, SENCO, and wider multidisciplinary team.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and who can bring patience, consistency, and creativity to the role.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting a child with complex ASD through structured routines, sensory strategies, and tailored learning
  • Implementing behaviour support plans and promoting emotional regulation
  • Working towards EHCP targets and contributing to progress reviews
  • Collaborating closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure joined‑up support
  • Using sensory resources and activities to help the child access learning
  • Supporting communication, social interaction, and independence
  • Helping maintain a calm, safe, and well‑organised classroom environment
  • Assisting with adapted activities, interventions, and personalised learning tasks

  • Has strong experience supporting children with complex ASD needs
  • Brings confidence in behaviour support, sensory work, and EHCP implementation
  • Has experience across Early Years and Primary settings
  • Works effectively with teachers, therapists, and families
  • Is reliable, patient, and consistent in their approach
  • Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team
  • Is committed to inclusive practice and supporting every child to thrive
