Learning Support Assistant
Position: Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant Location: Barnet, North London Salary: £2,240- £2,290Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term, 8:30am-4pm Start Date: ASAP
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive two-form entry primary school in Barnet. This Ofsted-rated Outstanding school is committed to providing high-quality education and tailored support for every child. You will play a vital role in supporting pupils across the primary age range, including those with Special Educational Needs, ensuring they make progress both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and small-group support for pupils, including those with SEN and additional learning needs.Assist with core subjects such as phonics, literacy, and numeracy, using scaffolding techniques to help pupils access learning.Lead targeted intervention groups to accelerate progress in key areas.Work closely with class teachers and the SEN team to implement personalised learning strategies and Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs).Support pupils with social and emotional development, promoting positive behaviour and resilience.Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to teachers and parents where appropriate.Maintain a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.What We're Looking For
Previous classroom experience in a primary school setting (Reception or KS1 preferred).Proven experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, including speech and language delays, autism, or ADHD.Knowledge of intervention strategies, scaffolding techniques, and differentiated learning approaches.A valid Child Workforce DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).Excellent communication skills, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.Interested?
