About the role:
As the Kitchen Hand, you will:
- Perform a variety of catering and cleaning activities to ensure the effective operations of the kitchen/canteen.
- Perform duties that adhere to the maintenance of safe and hygienic operations within the kitchen/canteen.
The Kitchen Hand reports to the Supervisor on operational matters and to the Business Manager as the delegated representative of the school Principal on administrative matters.
Responsibilities include:
- Understand the use of cleaning chemicals and use of appropriate recommended products for specific kitchen equipment and cleaning duties including laundering.
- Provide a clean and hygienic environment for the preparation and delivery of Life Technologies/Hospitality/VET classes.
- Perform waste management and stock rotation according to operational policies, work instructions and procedures of the faculty.
- Ensure that malfunctioning equipment is reported and recorded.
- Participate in quality management activities related to food suppliers, production and preparation practices to improve T&L outcomes.
- Promote a safe, secure environment for all who use or visit the Life Technologies Practical Kitchens.
- Follow WHS practices to ensure that the Kitchen facilities are operated and maintained in a safe and hygienic manner.
- Other specific duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by Head of Department.
Our ideal candidate would possess:
- Current first aid and CPR certification
- Up to date Food Safety Handling certificate
- Current Anaphylaxis Training
- Experience at a commercial or school kitchen level preferred
- Cert 3 in Hospitality
