This is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact on the learning journey of our high-potential students from Prep to Grade 6.

Mount Scopus Memorial College is a Jewish Day School that boasts world class facilities across three campuses, with over 1400 students, and whose students regularly achieve outstanding VCE results.  We are an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion who welcome new and current employees from a diverse range of faiths and backgrounds.  Although being Jewish is not a prerequisite for employment, a worldview that is sympathetic to the Jewish ethos is essential.

In this exciting role, you will have the chance to design and deliver engaging, differentiated programs tailored to the unique learning needs of gifted and talented learners. You will foster their intellectual curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills, working collaboratively with classroom teachers, learning support staff, and parents to create a supportive and stimulating environment where every student can thrive.

This is a unique opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced teacher to enhance our current offerings and actively shape the future of Gifted and Talented education within our Primary School.  This role is a full-time position working across all three campuses of the primary school located in Burwood, St Kilda East and Caulfield South and travel will be required between the campuses.

Commencement date is negotiable (preferably Term 2 or Term 3, 2025).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identification and Assessment: Collaborate with teachers and learning support to identify high-potential students using diverse methods and contribute to school-wide procedures. Partner with school leaders to analyze assessment data for differentiated learning.

Develop differentiated curriculum and resources for extension and enrichment within and beyond the classroom. • Collaboration and Communication: Work with the Pedagogical Coach and classroom teachers to integrate differentiated strategies. Provide professional learning on identifying and supporting gifted students. Communicate effectively with parents about student progress, fostering strong partnerships. Collaborate with external agencies to enhance our gifted provision.
  • Student Support and Wellbeing: Collaborate with the Individual Learning Team to provide social and emotional support, addressing unique needs. Foster a growth mindset and love of learning. Encourage talent development and passions. Facilitate connections with like-minded peers. Act as a mentor, contribute to IEPs and handover notes, and share information with the Secondary School gifted team.
  • Curriculum and Policy Development: Contribute to the development and review of gifted education policies. Stay informed on current research and best practices. Assist in resource selection and management.
  • Other Duties: Participate in professional development and staff meetings. Undertake other reasonable duties aligned with FTE. Plan and run early morning and enrichment clubs.
