About the Role
- Work directly with schools, vocational education institutions, government, industry, business and community groups to form productive partnerships and develop networks to position School Based Traineeships, Apprenticeships and work experience to give insight to career pathway choices for students at Cairns School of Distance Education.
- Develop and provide guidance for the work experience placement program, including identifying increased opportunities, monitoring students in the workplace, arranging visits where required and managing the preparation, collection and storage of records and data as required by departmental policy.
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to the Australian School Based Apprenticeship program and articulate legislation, policies and procedures governing apprenticeships and traineeships to internal and external clients.
- Work autonomously in providing advice, mostly of a vocational referral nature, consult with other Vocational Education Coordinators, Guidance Officers and Regional Managers in the case of more complex problems.
- Be involved in the preparation and presentation of information sessions and organise relevant guest speakers for careers presentations in both online and face to face forums.
- Organise and manage an annual Careers Expo held at the school for students, involving various organisations, including tertiary institutions and professional associations.
- Access, track and connect the progress data of students in the Vocational Education and Training pathway.

- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining networks with business and industry groups
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Provide support to students both face to face and in online forums.
