About the Role

The Individual Learning Teacher will be dedicated to supporting the Primary School students who have a broad range of additional needs, including cognitive, social/emotional, physical, and sensory differences. This role plays a crucial part in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that enables all students to reach their full potential.

Reporting to the Head of Primary School, through the Head of Individual Learning, the Individual Learning Teacher is expected to uphold and embody the school’s purpose and values both inside and outside the classroom. Working in close collaboration with the Head of Individual Learning, they will design and implement targeted intervention and enrichment programmes that promote academic excellence, personal growth, and student engagement.

As an inclusive educator, the Individual Learning Teacher will take an active role in building the capacity of classroom teachers and other professionals, equipping them with strategies to create positive, differentiated, and enriching educational experiences for students with diverse learning profiles. This includes providing guidance on best practices, contributing to professional development, and fostering a culture of collaboration and support within the school community.

This is a non-class-based position focused on enhancing student outcomes through specialised intervention, enrichment, collaboration, and teacher support.

About You

You are dedicated, passionate and possess the following:

  • A relevant Graduate or Postgraduate Special or Inclusive Education, or equivalent experience, and teaching qualification
  • An ACT teacher’s registration through the ACT TQI or willingness to apply
  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing evidence-based teaching programmes and resources that meet the needs of students from Pre-School to Year 6 with a range of additional needs (intervention and enrichment)
  • Specific qualification/s and/or experience in supporting students with additional needs
  • Expertise and experience in using evidence-based effective teaching strategies for differentiated instruction
  • Strong capability to analysis and use data to inform practice
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills
  • Knowledge of the Australian Curriculum; Disability Discrimination Act (1992); Disability Standards for Education (2005), and the AITSL standards for professional teachers
  • Knowledge and understanding of the IB Primary Years Programme or Inquiry approach to learning

  • Excellent written English and effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent technological literacy across a range of applications
  • A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card or willingness to apply
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
