About the Role 

The Inclusive Education Assistant is a dedicated and compassionate professional who supports students with a range of learning and developmental needs. In this role, you’ll assist in adapting instructional and resources, using accessible techniques to make the curriculum accessible and participation achievable for all students. By providing personalised support, you’ll empower students with additional needs to reach their academic goals, develop social skills, and foster independence. Through your guidance, students will build confidence to fully participate in classroom activities, enriching both their learning and social development. Your role will be essential in creating an inclusive, supportive, and dynamic learning environment.

Qualifications  

  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
  • First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain them). 
  • Completion of Certificate IV in School-Based Education Support; or
  • Are in your third year or final year of study and completion of the practicum in a relevant initial teacher education (ITE) qualification.

Selection Criteria 

  1. An ability to assist in implementing an effective model of service to support teachers and students in the classroom.
  2. An understanding of the different learning and social skills that students may need and why.
  3. An ability to use initiative, discretion, and judgment in planning, organising, and achieving outcomes under time constraints.
  4. Capacity to provide specialist technical advice, direction, and assistance in the area of expertise using skills and knowledge relevant to the qualification for this level.
  5. Capability to resolve complex problems and coordinate work within their department.
