  • Effective teaching practice, or strong emerging potential, and the ability to support students across different ages, abilities and learning needs.
  • An inclusive approach that combines high expectations with responsive support.
  • The ability to use assessment, feedback and data to strengthen student learning.
  • A collaborative approach and a willingness to share ideas and reflect on your practice.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence using technology to enhance learning.
  • A commitment to student wellbeing, pastoral care and co-curricular participation.

Experience teaching the HSC, IB Diploma Programme or IB Middle Years Programme would be valued. We also welcome applications from teachers keen to develop their expertise across these pathways.

Personal Attributes

  • Ability to inspire that passion in students
  • Dedication to the wellbeing, formation and growth of every young person
  • A commitment to inclusive excellence and high expectations for all learners
  • Sound judgement and high professional standards
  • A collaborative, reflective and growth-focused approach to your practice.

All teachers at CGS are required to hold:

  • A relevant tertiary degree and recognised teaching qualification
  • Current ACT Teacher Quality Institute registration and a valid WWVP
  • A current National Police Check and full working rights in Australia
  • A current First Aid Certificate.

Benefits for You

As a CGS team member, you will have access to a range of additional benefits, including:

  • A highly competitive salary
  • Superannuation rate of 13.5%
  • Generous professional development funding
  • An employee recognition and awards programme
  • Attractive salary-packaging arrangements
  • Complimentary daily barista-made coffee
  • Delicious daily morning tea and discounted lunches
  • Access to the onsite health clinic and annual influenza vaccinations;
  • 24/7 access to our Employee Assistance Program
  • Convenient onsite parking.

Working at CGS

At Canberra Grammar School, teachers are trusted as professionals, supported to grow and encouraged to bring ambition, creativity and fresh thinking to their practice.

You will join a diverse and forward-thinking educational community where academic excellence and student wellbeing are equally valued. You will have the opportunity to teach across respected Australian and international curriculum pathways, collaborate with passionate colleagues and make a meaningful contribution beyond the classroom.
