The Hospitality Learning Aide role operates across St Teresa’s food service departments and programs to deliver a high standard of hygienic food production and food services support to the College Hospitality Teachers in the delivery of food production lessons. 

This role will assist & support the Hospitality Department to undertake tasks related to the co-ordination of the operations for all catering & cooking of the student lessons / programs and work with the Hospitality Department in the planning and delivery of lesson menu and functions at St Teresa’s.
We currently have a position available in this area working 25 hours per week. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, happy person for this role who will assist us with our College commitment to healthy food preparation and lesson menu support. 
This is a permanent position: Days to be negotiated based on timetable requirements. A degree of flexibility with hours is desirable as there may be occasions when extra hours will be required to cover other staff or assist with catering.


 Typical duties performed include, but not limited to:

  • Daily set up of classroom – hygiene, safety checks, practical set up, equipment set up
  • Preparation and ordering of food items for lesson delivery for students;
  • Calculation of ingredients and cross checking of ingredients when ordering
  • Maintaining hygiene in accordance with Department of Health Regulations;
  • Dealing with suppliers for placement of orders where required to support Hospitality Department;
  • Stock rotation and maintenance of pantry and fridge staples
  • Checking supplies and deliveries against invoices;
  • Washing of daily linen (tea towels, cloths and aprons)
  • Operational cleans and maintaining cleaning schedule for all fixed and manual equipment
  • Deep clean of equipment on regular basis (Dishwasher, stove tops and ovens)
  • Assistance within the classroom with students practical activities
  • Stocktake assistance to Hospitality Department when required;
  • Support Leadership Team and Hospitality Teachers with functions where required;
  • Cleaning and upkeep of equipment in the preparation of food;
  • Honest, reliable, flexible and committed to task at hand; 
  • Support the College mission and ethos of a Catholic College; 
  • Sound organisational skills;
  • Show initiative and self-confidence;
  • Ability to work and interact with young people; and 
  • Good communication / interpersonal skills: be able to relate harmoniously with students, staff, parents and visitors.
