Location: Lewisham, South East London Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant Start Date: January 2026 Pay: £110 - £130 per day (pro rata) Schedule: Full-time

Veritas Education are partnering with a warm, inclusive primary school in Lewisham to recruit an experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to provide high-quality support across all primary year groups from January 2026.

This OFSTED-rated 'Good' school is known for its supportive ethos, high expectations, and commitment to helping every pupil achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to deliver engaging interventions, lead learning activities, and support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development each morning.

This position is ideal for a confident, proactive HLTA who is passionate about primary education and eager to make a meaningful impact in a forward-thinking, nurturing school environment.

The Ideal Higher Level Teaching Assistant Will Have:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent classroom experience (essential)

  • Proven experience supporting learning across EYFS, KS1, and/or KS2

  • Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum

  • Confidence delivering small-group and whole-class learning sessions

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills

    • Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning across various primary year groups each morning

  • Delivering targeted intervention sessions in core subjects

  • Leading small-group and occasional whole-class activities under the direction of class teachers

  • Assisting in planning, assessing, and adapting learning activities to meet pupils' needs

  • Promoting positive behaviour and fostering an encouraging learning environment
