St Augustine’s College is seeking a highly motivated Health and Safety Officer to join our large P-12 campus located at Augustine Heights. The primary role is to provide administrative support to ensure that the College operates safely and complies with all relevant legislation. This role is responsible for the administration and communication of the College’s safety policies and procedures.  

 

The role is 4 days per week, campus based and a continuing role. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Business Manager, and will work collaboratively with the Business Manager, Facilities Manager and Senior leadership to provide a source of knowledge, initial advice, and information to develop, implement and monitor effective WH&S systems, policies, training, and practices that address College’s key organisational risks and WH&S compliance obligations with BCE and legislative requirements. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:.
- Managing the completion and at times the delegation of WH&S tasks across the College to meet legislative and organisation deadlines,

- Advising leadership of relevant changes in regulations and legislations and therefore implementing the changes to policies and procedures in a timely manner,
- Supporting staff in managing organizational registers; for example first aid, medications, asbestos, fire and emergency testing of equipment, test and tagging and RCD schedules, 
- Advising and facilitating risk assessments with responsible staff members for school events and activities,

- Investigating, reporting and providing recommendations on all health and safety matters involving the College and its stakeholders,
- Working in collaboration with BCE workplace health and safety and school leadership to review and refine current school processes, practices and procedures to ensure they comply with legal and regulatory obligations and BCE system requirements

About you - You will bring to the role:
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety is essential for this role

- Previous risk and compliance administration or management experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A people-centric approach that supports good relationships within the College and broader organisation
- Experience providing risk and compliance advice to leadership and colleagues
- An organised approach to work including time and priority management.
