Position Information
Northlakes High School is an inclusive, comprehensive government secondary school on the NSW Central Coast. The 2025 enrolment is 850. There are strong links to the community, Muru Bulbi AECG, partner primary schools and local universities.
The school caters for the learning and wellbeing needs of students from diverse backgrounds, including low socio- economic status. 21% of students are from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island background and 6% have a non-English speaking background. There are ten classes supporting students with a range of disabilities based within the Adaptive Learning Centre and Twinlakes Centre.
Northlakes High School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school and is utilising PBL and a successful house system to devise engagement strategies and improve student wellbeing. Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) is a core program that has been implemented school-wide.
Learning Support, Wellbeing, PBL and Careers and Transition teams support students' learning, vocational and social needs, with an emphasis on respect, responsibility and personal best. The school offers an extensive curriculum which includes VET and Life Skills courses, and collaborates with universities, TAFE and industry and community groups. Aboriginal students are supported through the Muru Bulbi Learning and Engagement Centre and Clontarf Academy with tutoring and access to a range of cultural activities, mentoring and other programs. The school has continued to strengthen positive relationships with its parent body and the whole school community.

- Evidence as a highly visible, and collaborative leader with a demonstrated capacity for building capabilities of all staff to improve student wellbeing outcomes by offering purposeful, systematic, sustainable and differentiated support to create a strong sense of belonging in our school community.
- Exceptional organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to utilise consultative and inclusive practices to develop effective partnerships with students, staff, parents and the wider community to coordinate and engage wrap-around support to facilitate improved student engagement in learning.
- Successful experience in working collaboratively with the school community and external stakeholders, to implement, monitor and evaluate strategies to improve student attendance.
- Demonstrated understanding of the needs of a diverse student population, including those from a low-socio economic community and those from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander origins, and of effective strategies to address challenges experienced by them.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
