Position Information

Albion Park High School is located on Dharawal Country at the foot of the Illawarra escarpment. The school is a richly diverse and complex comprehensive high school with a rapidly growing enrolment of approximately 1060 students, including 103 Aboriginal students. The school has 13 support classes comprising of 5 AU, 4 ED, 2 IM, 1 IO/IS and a Return to School Centre. We have a strong focus on creating a safe, happy and caring environment where every student is known, valued, and cared for. The school's current ICSEA is 972 and the school's FOEI is 111. The staff at Albion Park High School are committed to providing innovative and successful programs focusing on authentic, evidence informed initiatives and teaching pedagogies.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
  1. Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills to build authentic relationships with parents, carers and external agencies to enhance the wellbeing of all students and foster a positive school culture.
  2. Demonstrated ability or capacity to lead the wellbeing and learning and support teams to deliver a coordinated, whole school approach to improve outcomes for all students and foster a positive school culture.
  3. Vision or experience in establishing environments to support learning and wellbeing.
  4. Proven capacity to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate whole school wellbeing programs, including analysis of data, to inform Strategic Improvement Plan initiatives.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
