Position Information

Banora Point High School is a comprehensive secondary school located in the Tweed Coast area. The school pays respect to the traditional custodians, the Nganduwal and Goodginburra people of the Minjungbul speaking clans of the Bundjalung nation. The student population is approximately 550, with 11.6% of students identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and less than 2% of students having a non-English speaking background. The school also has 3 Support Unit classes.  

The school enjoys the support of the Tweed Wollumbin Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (TWAECG). We have strong partnerships with universities, cultural institutions, businesses and community groups. Students have represented the school across the north coast region and the state, in dance and music ensembles, a wide range of sporting activities and in youth leadership groups.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
  1. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage, and implement whole-school initiatives that support the effective implementation of the school's School Excellence Plan.
  2. Demonstrated ability to lead, teach and supervise the delivery of high-quality engaging and differentiated teaching and learning programs including supporting the implementation of the new syllabus across a range of TAS subjects, catering for a diverse and complex range of learners including high-potential and gifted students. 
  3. Demonstrated ability to deliver, supervise and support the delivery of vocational education courses. 
  1. Proven capacity to build positive relationships and engagement with students to foster their potential, which contributes to high expectations and a thriving school culture within a diverse community.
  2. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and lead a diverse faculty team building positive relationships and embedding a culture of high expectations, to improve learning outcomes for students
