Position Information

Prairiewood High School is a Year 7 to 12 comprehensive, co–educational and partially academically selective school of 1300 students. The school caters for a diverse student population with 1% of Aboriginal students and 87% of students from a wide range of non–English speaking backgrounds, including over 100 refugee students. The school has four Special Education classes. There are 60 academically selective students in each year group. The school is committed to extending its students within a culture that values excellence in teaching and learning; offers students and staff rich and innovative opportunities for learning and leadership, and actively promotes wellbeing and positive relationships. General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Demonstrated ability to build staff capacity and foster a culture of high expectations, while being a collaborative and visible leader who works effectively with the executive to implement whole school priorities.
Demonstrated ability to lead and support staff in implementing differentiated teaching strategies that meet the diverse learning needs of students across stages of the learning continuum, while fostering inclusive practices.
Demonstrated capacity to lead and implement TAS curriculum and VET Frameworks to ensure successful student outcomes.   
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
