Position Information

Northern Beaches Secondary College Cromer Campus (enrolment 1183 students) is a comprehensive co-educational school located on the northern beaches of Sydney. Cromer Campus has recently experienced a substantial increase in student numbers due to a range of successful programs.

The Head Teacher TAS position at our high school is a leadership role responsible for supervising and guiding a dedicated team of teachers delivering the Technology and Applied Studies curriculum. This role involves fostering a collaborative and innovative learning environment that supports the diverse needs of our students. The school is actively developing new and exciting pathways opportunities, including enhanced vocational pathways alongside traditional HSC courses. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, curriculum expertise, and a commitment to student engagement and success.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
  1. Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of TAS syllabus areas (including stage 6 Industrial Technology) 
  2.  Highly developed communication, and interpersonal skills to lead and support colleagues through the management of performance and building individual capacity to deliver effective professional practice. 
  3. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and successfully with the school executive to lead, manage and implement systems, processes and initiatives that address whole school strategic priorities.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

Special Notes

The successful applicant will be appointed to Northern Beaches Secondary College and initially based at the Cromer Campus.
