Position Information

North Sydney Boys High School (enrolment 934, 95% students from language backgrounds other than English) is an academically selective school on Sydney’s lower north shore. There is a commitment to providing a stimulating and challenging learning environment which develops resilient, innovative and connected learners who strive to achieve their personal best. Students from a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds travel from across wider Sydney to its lower north shore location. A special education unit was established in 2019 enhancing an inclusive environment and broadening opportunities for all students.

Experienced staff are dedicated to innovative curriculum writing and delivery with a strong focus on quality teaching and professional learning. An extensive outdoor education program compliments a substantial extracurricular program that includes academic, sporting and cultural domains. General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
  1. Expertise in leading the evaluation, development and implementation of high-quality Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) programs, resources and assessment practices that promote high expectations and intellectual rigour that challenge academically gifted boys.

  2. Outstanding organisational skills with demonstrated capacity to effectively coordinate faculty systems and processes, build the capacity of the TAS staff and generate a shared vision of excellence that ensures measurable improvement in student learning. 

  3. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and successfully with the school executive to lead, manage and implement initiatives that address whole school strategic priorities and  build positive relationships across the school community.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
