Position Information

The new Medowie High School will open to Year 7 students only at the start of Term 1, 2027. Located in Port Stephens on Worimi Country, the school serves a vibrant semi-rural community.

Recognising the unique opportunities and challenges of opening a new school, the successful applicant will work closely with the principal and executive team to establish high-quality programs, systems, structures and processes to support excellence and equity. The role includes contributing to the development of a positive, inclusive and high-expectations school culture, while supporting the establishment of innovative and evidence-informed Technological and Applied Studies programs and practices that promote student engagement and achievement.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 

1.   Demonstrated capacity to establish a Technological and Applied Studies faculty in a new school setting, including the development and implementation of effective systems, structures, organisational processes and operational procedures that support high-quality teaching, learning, compliance, communication and efficient faculty operations.

2.   Proven ability to strategically develop and manage Technological and Applied Studies facilities, resources and specialist learning environments, while building the capability and performance of staff to deliver innovative, engaging and high-impact teaching and learning programs that maximise student achievement and wellbeing.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
