About this job
Position Information
Chatham High School is a large welcoming comprehensive high school that services the town of Taree and adjacent rural and coastal areas with an enrolment of approximately 550 students. The school is seeking an energetic leader who will continue to grow our TAS faculty, following a recent re-furbishment of our technology learning spaces and staff appointments.
Approximately 49% of students enrolled at Chatham High School are of Aboriginal descent and the school enjoys a close connection to the local community through a wide variety of cultural programs. The school has a mix of experienced and early career teaching, support, administrative and executive staff, noted for their caring attitude and commitment to high expectations for all students.
A broad academic and vocational curriculum is supported by diverse cultural and extra curricula programs offered by the school to enhance student retention and attainment. These include CHACE, a Curriculum Extension program in stage 4, a Talented Athlete Program (TAP) in stage 5 and a well-resourced and staffed Senior Support Centre for stage 6 students. Student success is underpinned by strong staff commitment to working in teams to support classes and individual students. Student leadership is an active and valued aspect of school life and enhances the increasingly positive perception of the school in the community.
