Position Information
Newtown High School of the Performing Arts is a partially selective (in Dance, Music and Drama), co-educational, comprehensive school located on Gadigal Land approximately 5 kms southwest of Sydney CBD. The student population is approximately 1165. The school has an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander enrolment of 26 students. The school is strongly supported by an active and engaged Parents and Citizens Association as well as the broader community. All members of the school community have high aspirations for success. Specific Selection Criteria
- A passion for, and expertise in, high potential gifted education research and teaching strategies, and the capacity to develop the talent of HPG students.
- Demonstrated leadership skills to develop, implement and embed evidence-based pedagogy that inspires teams and the whole school to drive teaching and learning excellence.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to articulate and promote the school’s values and the school’s high expectations for learning across faculties, the students, and the community.
- Demonstrated outstanding ability to lead professional learning through positively and collaboratively engaging with a diverse staff to improve student outcomes in line with the school’s strategic directions.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
