Position Information
Monaro High School is a comprehensive rural high school located in Cooma that proudly serves the communities of the Monaro district. Our 402 students from Year 7 -12 come from a range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds providing an inclusive and diverse school community. The school offers a quality academic, vocational curriculum and student well being support to accommodate all students. Monaro High School is committed to gaining the best possible educational outcomes for all students, with the school’s current strategic directions of Student Growth and Attainment, High Impact Teaching and well being core to our practice.
The school hosts a Supported Education Unit consisting of six classes including IO/IS, IM, Emotional Disturbance and three multi-categorical classes. The Supported Education Faculty are a dynamic team with a broad range of experience, committed to supporting the learning outcomes of students with support placements.
Monaro High School boasts state of the art facilities thanks to a multi-million dollar upgrade being completed this year. Facilities include a 350 seat performing arts centre, innovation hub including professional standard recording and digital media studios and indoor 3 court sports centre. There are specialised outdoor play area for students with disabilities and contemporary teaching spaces throughout the school.
General Selection Criteria
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Approval to teach special education and/or demonstrated experience in teaching students with autism, mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, children with challenging behaviours, and mental health concerns.
Demonstrated capacity to lead, engage and support staff in educating students with special needs and establish effective partnerships with parents, community and support agencies.
Demonstrated collaborative leadership capacity to manage the individual teaching and learning programs of students with diverse and complex learning needs
Demonstrated capacity to work as a dynamic member of member of a school leadership team in leading initiatives that address whole school strategic directions.
Conditions
The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one-off recruitment payment of $20,000. (Conditions apply)
A relocation support package of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
