Position Information

Elizabeth Macarthur High School is a partially selective high school in Narellan Vale with 1389 students, including 67 Aboriginal students and 20% English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) students. The school has a mission statement that is at the centre of all processes and practices, "Shaping the future by pursuing excellence and creating boundless opportunities”. The school has a learning platform that includes 4Matt, Gerric and Glasser and has strong curriculum links with its feeder primary schools. The school has a trade training centre as well as links with local universities and is involved with many community of schools partnerships with other high schools. The School is setting up a support unit of three classes, 2 Autism and 1 Multi-categorical class in 2025.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 

  • Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience and expertise in effectively meeting the needs of students with a range of disabilities. 
  • Capacity to establish responsive systems and processes to create an inclusive learning environment and curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners.  
  • Highly developed organisational skills to foster a culture of inclusion and high expectations, working collaboratively with the whole staff in the establishment of a new disability support unit. 
  • Demonstrated capacity to utilise a flexible approach which motivates a dynamic team of staff to foster transition support for students and connection to programs both within and outside the school community to ensure long term successful outcomes for students.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
