Position Information
Camden Haven High School is an integrated face-to-face and distance education high school, where most teachers teach both modes, with an enrolment of 1100 students, including 202 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Situated on the mid-north coast, CHHS has an emphasis on quality teaching and learning, and enhancing student achievement and learning outcomes. The Head Teacher - Special Education will be responsible for teaching and supervising three support classes in face-to-face. The school has a supportive staff and runs many student-centred programs. It is a proud member of the Camden Haven Community of Schools, and has strong connections within the local community.

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Demonstrated expertise in inclusive educational practices for students with diverse disabilities, including autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or complex behaviours.
Evidence of applying current legislation, including the Disability Standards for Education (2005) and the NSW Disability Inclusion Act (2014), to support equitable access to education.
High-level understanding of behaviour support strategies, including functional behaviour assessments and positive behaviour interventions, to promote student engagement and wellbeing.
Demonstrated capacity to lead and collaborate with staff, families, and external agencies to develop and deliver programs that enhance student outcomes.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
