Position Information
Bowraville Central School is located on the Mid North Coast of NSW in the Nambucca Valley. We deliver tailored learning pathways for students from Kindergarten to Year 12, with 45% of our students identifying as Aboriginal. Our school has a current enrolment of 166 students including 3 multi-categorical support classes and significant IFS funding to support students with disabilities in mainstream classes. In addition to 26 teaching staff the school has a further 27.4 non-teaching staff supporting students. 
As a Connected Communities school, supported by our local AECG, we are part of a network that builds strong partnerships with Aboriginal leaders, families, our wider community, and external agencies, to provide a holistic approach to education for all of our students.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria:
  1. Demonstrated capacity to work as a dynamic member of a school leadership team in leading whole school strategic directions; ensuring the support unit remains a fully integrated aspect of the school.
  2. Willingness to work across a K-12 school, including teaching where necessary, and support the curriculum needs of students with disabilities in all stages.
  3. Demonstrated ability to be a visible and collaborative leader with capacity to develop inclusive, trusting relationships with students, staff, families and external agencies.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to establish and lead a support unit in terms of resource management, staff development and comprehensive unit programming. This includes working with Learning and Support team and the network to facilitate access requests and MC class placements.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
