Position Information

Cheltenham Girls’ High School with an enrolment of 1400 students, including 69% students from a non-English speaking background, is a leading comprehensive girls' school with strong traditions. The school is committed to providing all students with opportunities to achieve excellence in all areas of student achievement. The school has dedicated and highly experienced staff, and articulate and involved parents. School strategic directions include strengthening the partnership between the school and the community, supporting literacy, numeracy and HSC. Curriculum differentiation is implemented for all students across all key learning areas and supporting the delivery of high quality teaching in every classroom. The school enrols an HPGE class in Year 7 each year. This position involves managing a faculty of diverse skills and abilities and working collaboratively to support the delivery of whole school improvements in teaching and learning.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 

Demonstrated ability to lead the analysis of data to direct effective, evidenced based pedagogies for improved student learning outcomes for a diverse range of learners including HPGE students.

Capacity to lead and manage a diverse faculty at a variety of career stages in professional learning to support the development and implementation of new syllabus courses with quality teaching, learning, and assessment programming in Social Sciences. 

Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide strong educational leadership to create a cohesive and collaborative learning environment supporting student wellbeing and a culture of high expectations 

Demonstrated capacity to work as a dynamic middle leader and member of the executive team to lead and support initiatives that address whole school strategic directions in literacy, numeracy and HSC for continuous improvement.
