Position Information

Bossley Park High School is a large co-educational high school proudly serving the South Western Sydney community since 1988, on Darug land. There are 1163 students in the school, 81% of the student population come from a language background or dialect other than English, 31% of students are learning English as an additional language and 10% of students are from a refugee background. The school has a Disability Support Unit catering to students with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. The school is recognised for its broad curriculum including programs that support the development of talent and high potential in a range of areas, including visual arts, robotics, accelerated mathematics, performing arts - dance, music, and drama, and a selective talented football program. The school offers HSC Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses in Construction, Business Services, Hospitality, and Entertainment to cater to a variety of career pathways. Strong partnerships with universities, businesses, and community groups are developed to provide opportunities and experiences to strengthen learning and engagement for all students. Bossley Park High promotes Positive Behaviours for Learning to support a safe, respectful learner code. It is well respected in the community for its positive learning environment, strong student wellbeing, leadership initiatives, and engagement programs that nurture students to connect, thrive, and succeed. Initiatives such as evidence-based teaching practices and high leverage HSC strategies focus on effective student learning and attainment. General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
  1. A collaborative and visible leader with demonstrated capacity to work cohesively as part of the executive team, actively leading, implementing, and supporting whole school priorities and strategic directions.
  2. Demonstrated ability to cultivate positive relationships with students, faculty, executive and the wider school community, through exemplary interpersonal and communication skills.
  3. Evidence of outstanding leadership in managing a dynamic team with a range of experience to deliver challenging, inclusive and high quality assessments, resources and teaching programs that cater for all students in a large comprehensive and diverse setting.
  4. Demonstrated ability to build staff capacity in supporting a culture of continuous improvement and high expectations across a broad range of Social Science courses in all stages.
