Position Information

Chatswood High School is a partially selective school located on Sydney's north shore. Students benefit and thrive from our diverse and differentiated curriculum designed to maximise every student's potential. Chatswood High School has a current enrolment of 2246 students, including 81% students from a non-English speaking background. The high school has several components that make it a dynamic and complex educational institution. The Year 7-12 component of the high school is made up of a mainstream enrolment who are our local students. Entry into Year 7 can also be made through the High Performing Students Unit into the Academically Selective Stream. The third mode of entry into the school is through the Department of Education Access Program that allows entry into one of the classes in the Support Unit. There are four support classes for students diagnosed with autism and intellectual disabilities. The position will involve a range of responsibilities that may include Stage 5 behaviour management, HPGE programs, assessment management including NAPLAN and the whole school explicit teaching and literacy priorities. Chatswood High School utilises explicit teaching to support teaching and learning across the school. 

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Proven ability to manage complex student behaviour and wellbeing issues in ways that empower students, staff and families, and improve learning outcomes.

         Capacity to create and manage the Stage 5 high potential and gifted education curriculum by building partnerships with universities and other learning organisations.

          Demonstrated ability to analyse learning data and work collaboratively within the executive team to design, strengthen and implement programs that improve learning outcomes for  students.

      A highly visible, innovative and engaging leader with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, committed to supporting staff, students and parents.
