Position Information
Ryde Secondary College (Years 7-12) has an enrolment of 1470 students, including 67% students from a language background other than English. It is a comprehensive high school with an academically selective cohort, an additional class for gifted and talented students, regular classes in each cohort and a support unit. The college has a strong focus on quality teaching, differentiated learning, Cultures of Thinking, collaborative teacher professional learning, student voice, social justice programs and a creative and positive learning environment. The college has extensive whole school, extracurricular, sporting and community partnership programs. As well as heading the science faculty, it is expected that the person in this role would be a proactive member of the executive and lead whole school initiatives.
General Selection Criteria
Specific Selection Criteria
- Proven expertise in science curriculum and capacity to lead a diverse team through curriculum reform to ensure innovative, evidence-based teaching and learning implementation.
- Demonstrated skills in gathering, analysing and interpreting school-based and system data to lead initiatives supporting engagement and growth from Stage 4 to Stage 6 in Science.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and mentor staff to implement HPGE and a high-expectations culture in all classrooms.
- Proven expertise in visible and proactive school leadership, collaborating with the executive to develop and support whole school policies, priorities and initiatives in the Strategic Improvement Plan.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
