Pittwater High School is a large co-educational school of approximately 880 students on Sydney’s Northern Beaches with a highly committed school community, executive, teaching and administrative staff. Our vision is to continue to build a learning culture based on high expectations where all students are challenged, enriched and engaged. The senior executive staff and teachers are committed to embedding evidence-based pedagogical practices to develop resilient, self-regulated learners who are well prepared to move successfully into their future careers. Innovative programming and assessments provide rich learning opportunities to engage and challenge all students including HPGE students.  There is a strong focus on professional learning, both across the school and within faculty teams to deliver evidence-based practices to embed quality teaching, learning and assessment that promotes learning excellence.  Currently, accelerated courses are offered in Aboriginal Studies, Investigating Science and Japanese Beginners. The school is a BYOD school which is supported by an extensive technology infrastructure which effectively services all classrooms. Unique features of Pittwater High School include the school's instrumental program, including the renowned symphonic orchestra, Cabrananga which is a support unit which caters for 21 students with diverse needs and an Agriculture program which caters for roughly 180 students from Year 7 through to the HSC.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 

Demonstrated capacity to lead colleagues to plan, implement and differentiate curriculum, implement quality assessment practices and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning programs and practices, to promote engagement and have a sustained and targeted impact on student learning.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage and implement initiatives that address whole school strategic directions and improve learning and engagement for all students.

Evidence of highly developed interpersonal, communication and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to build the capacity of the Science faculty to embed a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement, and nurture positive, quality relationships across the wider school community.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
