Position Information

Georges River College Oatley Senior Campus (enrolment 700) is a comprehensive co-educational high school for Years 11 and 12 (Stage 6). We are part of a multi-campus collegiate with three middle years 7-10 coeducational campuses (GRC Hurstville, GRC Peakhurst and GRC Penshurst). 

Oatley Senior Campus has three identified strategic directions: Student Growth and Attainment, Positive Culture for Learning and Inclusion, and Connection and Attainment. With a strong commitment to fostering a culture of high expectations, the campus supports students in building a solid foundation for lifelong learning within an inclusive and supportive environment. The campus offers a diverse academic curriculum and is recognised as offering one of the broadest number of courses in the state, including vocational education. The campus has an ethos of young adult learning which is linked to extensive student support programs in learning support and student wellbeing.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a Learning Support faculty and promoting inclusive, equitable practices across the school, with a commitment to fostering an environment where all students are able to succeed with improved outcomes, including those with an EAL/D background, diverse learning and mental health needs.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in building and embedding a systematic approach to implementing teaching and learning programs and developing teacher capacity to meet the needs of students with a diverse range of additional learning needs.

  • Demonstrated ability to be a highly visible, approachable and collaborative leader with strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive partnerships with students, staff, parents, and Departmental and external support agencies to support students’ wellbeing and academic progress.

  • Demonstrated enthusiastic, proactive leader with the ability to work as a dynamic member of the school executive team in leading initiatives that address whole school strategic directions and to manage whole school change through collaborative leadership.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
