Position Information

James Fallon High School is a comprehensive 7-12 high school of approximately 690 students in Albury. It caters to a very diverse enrolment, including approximately 27% Aboriginal students.   The school receives equity funding to support students from low socio-economic backgrounds, Aboriginal and English Learning students, and for students requiring low level disability adjustments. The school offers a broad curriculum and a range of student wellbeing, leadership, academic and co-curricular initiatives.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
  1. Demonstrated capacity in leadership through a change process in schools.
  2. Proven experience in coordinating and managing programs across a wide secondary spectrum, including the ability to develop strategies that enhance student engagement and achievement.
  3. Demonstrated capacity in leading a diverse faculty to promote professional growth and a high expectations culture.
  4. Proven experience in identifying and addressing the diverse learning needs of students, including those with disabilities or learning difficulties, and from Aboriginal and diverse cultural backgrounds, as a teacher and leader in schools.
