Position Information

Sefton High School is a co-educational academically selective school with a parallel mainstream intake. The school has an enrolment of 1101 students which includes 95% from non-English speaking background. The school is characterised by a focus of high expectations of all students and staff. Quality, evidence-based teaching and learning in a highly structured, disciplined learning environment permeates the school which is recognised and supported by the community. This results in students demonstrating excellent standards of attendance, academic achievement, conduct and personal growth. General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage and implement initiatives that address whole strategic directions and improve learning and engagement for all students.
2. Evidence of highly developed interpersonal, communication and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to build the capacity of the History and Languages faculties to support faculty priorities, including curriculum implementation.
3. Demonstrated skills in leading high-quality teaching and learning to provide opportunities for a diverse range of learners, including High Potential and Gifted students.
4. Demonstrated ability to build staff capacity in data analysis and embed a faculty culture of reflective practice, informing programming and assessment to support student learning and achievement.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
