Position Information
North Sydney Girls High is an established fully academically selective school catering for over 900 high potential and gifted students. Students come from a wide range of backgrounds with 93% being of language backgrounds other than English.
Students are highly motivated, aspirational, and deeply involved with their school community. A concept-driven curriculum has been developed with a focus on varied and authentic assessment. General Selection Criteria
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Record of outstanding results and expertise in leading, teaching and assessing Stage 6 English with innovative, high-quality teaching and learning programs that promote high expectations, intellectual rigour and engagement for high potential and gifted students.
2. Demonstrated high-level educational leadership skills and emotional intelligence, with the proven capacity to establish, lead and manage a diverse English faculty, cultivating a collaborative and high performing team environment to drive excellence in teaching and learning for high potential and gifted students from years 7 to 12.
3. Outstanding communication and organisational skills with demonstrated capacity to effectively coordinate faculty systems and processes, lead the implementation of the new Stage 6 syllabuses, build the capacity of staff and generate a shared vision of excellence that ensures measurable improvement in student learning outcomes.
4. A highly visible and approachable leader with the proven capacity to be a collaborative and dynamic member of the executive team to lead evidence-based initiatives that drive whole-school continuous improvement, including explicit teaching and literacy instruction in a high potential and gifted education setting.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
