Cootamundra High School (CHS) is a rural comprehensive high school that has a student population of 220, which includes three multi categorical classes.The school has 13% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and proudly stands on 4 hectares of Gudhamangdhuray Wiradjuri land. 

Students are offered a wide range of courses across all years and this includes Vocational Education and Training courses at the local Cootamundra TAFE. CHS students continually experience success in the HSC and have access to a wide and varied extra–curricular program including an award winning Cattle Show team. 

CHS staff is comprised of a balance of experienced long–term teachers with younger and new scheme teachers now an integral part of the framework of our school. Whole school professional learning has a strong focus on evidence and research informed pedagogy including the Berry Street Education Model, Stronger Smarter Leadership Program, Bridges Out of Poverty along with James Anderson's Growth Mindset continuum. A small but very active P&C are our best advocates.

Moving forward we will strengthen the shared approach to school improvement across the school with a focus on embedding evaluative practices to draw upon relevant and reliable data to make evidence-informed decisions about teaching and learning.  To enhance student growth and attainment a focus on effective classroom practice with an emphasis on explicit teaching, the use of feedback and questioning techniques and the explicit use of learning intentions and clear success criteria will be maintained. Through improved assessment practices with a focus on formative assessment, monitoring of data particularly literacy and numeracy data, and differentiation we will enable the needs of learners to be met more effectively.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
1. Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead and supervise staff with a range of teaching experience in curriculum delivery, differentiated teaching and learning programs and innovative pedagogy.
2. Capacity to be a dynamic, highly visible and collaborative leader who actively generates improvement and works with the executive team to deliver initiatives relating to school strategic directions. 
3. Demonstrated high level commitment to equity and outstanding interpersonal skills which nurture positive and productive relationships across a diverse school community.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
