Figtree High School is a large, co-educational comprehensive high school (Years 7–12) catering for approximately 900 students. It is important to note that the Head Teacher CAPA will provide strategic and instructional leadership for the Creative and Performing Arts faculty including Languages, ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning across the faculty.
The successful applicant will:
Lead and supervise the CAPA faculty, plus Languages, fostering a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Ensure effective, high-quality teaching and learning in CAPA and Languages is implemented consistently throughout the school day, aligned with syllabus and departmental priorities.
Lead and embed student wellbeing initiatives within CAPA and Language classrooms and faculty programs.
Identify and facilitate targeted professional learning to support staff in the implementation of new and revised curriculum.
Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and the wider school community as a representative of the faculty.
Work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team to plan, implement, and evaluate initiatives aligned with the School Excellence Plan.
Contribute as an active member of the School Executive, supporting whole-school improvement, decision-making, and leadership.

- Demonstrated ability to provide strong educational leadership to a diverse team, fostering high expectations, promoting quality teaching and learning, and driving student engagement across all CAPA (Creative and Performing Arts) disciplines.
- Proven ability to contribute actively as a dynamic member of the executive leadership team and lead initiatives that advance whole school strategic goals.
- Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead and manage a wide spectrum of CAPA programs and enrichment opportunities, ensuring inclusive, high-quality provision for students with diverse interests, abilities, and backgrounds
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
