Position Information

John Edmondson High School, with an enrolment of approximately 1050 students, including 58% of students from a non-English speaking background and 27 Aboriginal students, is a dynamic Year 7 - 12 comprehensive co-educational high school. The school serves a community in South-West Sydney in the Glenfield area that includes a wide range of families from diverse cultural and socio-economic groups living in suburban, as well as semi-rural environments. The school has an extensive curriculum and promotes academic, sporting and leadership development and achievement. Innovative features include extensive technological resources and numerous opportunities for student enrichment. Strong links with partner Primary Schools as well as external providers are being extended to further develop student opportunities for learning and success. General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 

1.        Demonstrated ability to manage daily school operations, including daily staff cover organisation, examination scheduling, duty rosters, variations to routines and manage casual staff with proven high-level organisational skills required to manage the complexities of this role while maintaining effective teaching practices.

2.      Demonstrated expertise in designing and constructing complex school timetable and ability to manage and improve administrative systems including Sentral, reporting and School Bytes to support teaching and learning across the school.

3.      Proven ability to collaborate with school leadership in driving strategic directions, leading whole-school initiatives, and implementing initiatives focused on monitoring and improving attendance for measurable improvement.

4.     Demonstrated capacity to implement a range of future-focused pedagogies and build staff capacity in empowering students to take ownership of their learning, resulting in improved learning outcomes.
