Position Information

Holsworthy High School is in the Liverpool Area of South West Sydney and has approximately 650 students. The school has a diverse multicultural community, with 51 EAL/D students and 43 Aboriginal students. Holsworthy High School also has 57 students from Defence Force families who are well supported by a Defence School Mentor (DSM).  A Special Education unit caters for students with a mild intellectual disability (IM) and autism (AU).  There is a very well established and effective Community of Schools group with high quality joint programs. There is a firm commitment from the leadership of all four schools to develop and extend this partnership.

The school is committed to a locally developed Learning Model that supports the department's priorities and reflects community aspirations. The model informs the teaching and learning practices of staff and students within the school.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
1. Highly developed problem solving and organisational skills to effectively manage the demands of whole school administration to facilitate the efficient daily operations of the school.
2. Demonstrated high level skills and expertise to build and implement a school timetable that is responsive to school curriculum and student needs.
3. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and personal skills to communicate and implement school policies, procedures and in the management of casual staff.
4. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the executive leadership team, supporting a cycle of continuous improvement aligned to the school’s Strategic Directions.
    Conditions

    An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
