Foundation College is an independent, co-educational senior secondary specialist school committed to student re-engagement through trauma-informed, wellbeing-centred education located across two campuses in Narre Warren and Frankston. Foundation College is a for-purpose independent senior secondary specialist school offering the VPC, VCE VM and select VCE units to young people aged 15-19. The College delivers flexible, personalised learning with a dual emphasis on academic progress and holistic wellbeing. Students have often experienced barriers to mainstream schooling, and the College exists to support and re-engage them in meaningful education and vocational pathways. With increasing enrolments across its two campuses, Foundation College is driven by a strong sense of purpose, community service and a belief in every student’s capacity to thrive when nurtured with respect, integrity, and inclusion.

About this job

The Head of Wellbeing & Diversity reports to the Principal for the strategic development and operational delivery of student wellbeing, inclusion, and diversity.

The Head of Wellbeing & Diversity leads a multidisciplinary team to implement inclusive wellbeing programs that promote student safety, belonging, and engagement. The role champions trauma-aware, culturally responsive practice and ensures compliance with NCCD and disability standards. The appointee will work collaboratively with staff, families, and allied health professionals to develop targeted learning supports and interventions. Strong leadership, policy development, and cross-campus coordination are vital, as is a deep understanding of the intersection between social-emotional wellbeing and learning success in diverse, flexible educational settings.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Advocate for students and their individual needs with empathy, discernment, and well-informed professionalism
  • Partner effectively with students, their families or support persons, staff and external agencies in respecting and promoting student wellbeing and learning needs
  • Lead inclusive wellbeing strategies designed for youth-focused educational settings in support of the College’s vision, mission and values
  • Build team and staff capability in trauma-informed, diversity-aware and inclusive practice
  • Oversee NCCD processes, data, and reporting with accuracy and compliance

Offered as a 3-year contract (commencing Term 3, 2025 or earlier by negotiation), applicants must have the right to work in Australia and hold relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, education or counselling. Applicants do not have to be VIT registered although registration will be advantageous.
